Japanese Beauty Brands NO.2

Hi beauties! :)
I was going to share Japanese drugstore makeup brands at this time, but I have some more department store beauty brands to share. FANCL and SK-II have already been famous in some countries, and SUQQU has been known too but I guess CHICCA is not known well overseas, so I hope you enjoy this summary and please check these out!

CHICCA (Japanese)
CHICCA main image

(image from www.chicca.jp)
CHICCA in Italian literally means "gem/jewel/precious" but I guess that is similar to "chick" for English speakers and is a casual term calling girl/woman. CHICCA was created by a top makeup artist Yasuo Yoshikawa and its concept is to prevent and slow aging with make-up. CHICCA makeup products add glow and brightness on your skin and give confidence and happiness to your mind. Unfortunately CHICCA is now only available in Japan. >_<

FANCL (English)
FANCL

(image from www.facebook.com/FANCL.Official)
FANCL is a big company mainly carrying cosmetics and functional food. FANCL's cosmetics has no preservatives for sensitive skin. One of best-selling items of FANCL is Fancl Mild Cleaning Oil (makeup remover) made with its original perfect blend oil. It removes the most stubborn makeup but doesn't take off the natural oil from your skin and leave your skin soft and moisturized. Recently, a diet supplement, Calorie Limit is selling well, which helps to reduce intake of calories if take it before meal. I'm sorry but I haven't taken it so I know if it has any effect or not. I don't want to rely on those supplement because I'm afraid of being addicted. I need to lose some weight for summer though!

SK-II (English)
SK-II
(image from SK-II US facebook page)
SK-II launched in 1980 as a scientist noticed that women working in a Japanese sake brewer has their very soft and youthful hands thanks to Pitera. Pitera is the special liquid extracted from sake fermentation process, and was contained the skin care product at the first time produced by a Japanese branch of Max Factor. SK-II has been becoming a world-wide cosmetic brand and now available in 17 countries. In Japan, SK-II has been considered as a brand for elder people but recently more young women in their 20s start using for their aging-care.

SUQQU (English/Chinese partly)

SUQQU

(image from www.suqqu.com)
SUQQU is such a newer brand starting from 2003 with its concept "To enhance the natural journey of a women's complexion." [ The name SUQQU was derived from the Japanese word sukku-to meaning "posture with attitude." Our Japanese cultural tradition of inner composure and serenity is echoed by the SUQQU range. Beginning of the innovative, nurturing facial "GANKIN massage" through to the gentle luxuriousness of our products. - from SUQQU official website] You could find many reviews by searching "GANKIN facial massage" on google.

Today in Japan, "ANTI-AGING" is one of the most trendy term for women, so many manufactures create aging care products. Also Japanese women want to have small faces since in Japan smaller face is considered prettier and more beautiful figure. My friend living in the State said it's not same in America. Anyway, I am Japanese so I really want to try SUQQU facial massage because it definitely sounds it contours my face and sharpens chin line, then I could get a smaller face! :D

Thank you for stopping by my blog, and as always, sorry for my English, if you have anything you don't understand, please let me know. Thank you!

Japanese Beauty Brands

Japanese beauty brands are too many to share so I picked some of the most popular department store skin care & cosmetics brands below. These are always on many fashion/beauty magazines. Each brand releases spring/summer and fall/winter collection and I cannot even follow them. They have absolutely beautiful and amazing products so check out their websites from the links on brands' names.

In alphabetized order.

Ayura (English)

(image from www.ayura.co.jp)
I love the concept, which is "Awaken your natural vitality to beautify yourself with Oriental wisdom, the effects of Asian plant extracts and our original Art of beauty care." Ayura helps to improve your natural beauty focusing on the connection and balance of "skin, body, and mind". Ayura produces a wide rage of products from makeup products to body/hair care products such as bath essences with aroma scent and meditation hair cleanser which give you relaxing bath time. The best-selling item is Meditation Bath α. I gave this for my friends' birthday gift, and she loves it!!

Addiction (Japanese/English)
(image from www.addiction-beauty.com)
Was launched in 2009 from KOSE, new makeup brand produced by a Japanese makeup artist, AYAKO. Various colors and textures with minimalist packaging-

Albion (English)
Albion has been very popular as a skin care brand since it's established in 1956 with its goal "the world's leading luxury cosmetics manufacture ". It provides 4 unique steps of skin care system, apply its milk lotion right after cleansing and before toner. I love that EXAGE milk lotion. It softens your skin and helps toner to pass through your skin more. Albion Cosmetics Co., also owns Anna Sui, Paul & Joe, Elegance, and LADUREE. Albion review in detail here.

Benefique (English)

The most luxury Shiseido-owned brand of makeup, skin care, and fragrance. Since it launched about 30 years ago, it has been attracting many women in the world. I've never purchased any products because it is costly for me... :( The most popular product from Clé de Peau is the concealer (click on here to see the reviews).

IPSA (English)
IPSA is a counseling brand with a Latin-derived name meaning "one's own." IPSA's mission is to enhance the skin's vital force to become beautiful on its own, and create together with customers, skin that is fundamentally beautiful.  Skincare and makeup brand under the Shiseido brand. "Metabolizer" is the representative product and it's available in 17 varieties for different skin types.

Impress (English) Kanebo
(image from www.kanebo-cosmetics.jp)
Debuted in 2006 as a high-quality brand of skin care and base brand from Kanebo. Kanebo is the first company to discover and apply "Rose Myrtle Extract", which is an ingredient in anti-aging skin care. Impress has several effective ingredients discovered by its studies. The department store I usually go to has Impress but I always pass by the booth, just because it is expensive, so I wish I could use them if I were like a celebrity. Impress is available mostly in Asia such as China, Indonesia, and Singapore.

LUNASOL (English)

(image from www.lunasol-net.com)
Kanebo's makeup line for department store only. The best selling products are 4-color eyeshadow palettes. Most people who love makeup have one of those palettes in Japan. I've actually never bought any eyeshadow palette yet but I've tried them at the store and according to the lots of reviews on fashion/beauty magazines and on internet sites, the textures are very shimmery and sheer to reflect your eyes beautifully. I'm currently using Lunasol's blush (01 Glow Pink) from spring 2013 collection and is pigmented and gives my cheek a luminous glow. Summer 2013 collection is coming soon! :)

RMK (English)

(image from www.rmk.com)
One of the top famous Japanese cosmetics brands. Makeup base and foundation are their best sellers which give a flawless and perfect even skin. I'm currently using a foundation primer and cream-liquid foundation. I really love both. The foundation primer is very watery and light and spreads out smoothly on your skin with moisturizing. The creamy foundation is rich in moisture so perfect for dryer skin types. It gives higher coverage but still my skin looks hydrated and translucent.

shuuemura (English)

(image from www.shuuemura-usa.com)
shu uemura has been getting famous in the world so you may know this brand already.
For limited edition works, shu uemura has started collaborating with international artists from 2004. I've used its gel eyeliner but it didn't work well to me, it didn't stay and smudged under my eyes after a while and I needed to clean that up frequently :/

THREE (English)

(image from www.fashion-press.net)
Born in 2009 Fall under its concept is "NEW ATTITUDE FOR BEING NATURAL". THREE is an organic cosmetic brand for skin care and makeup products and made by only excellent natural Japanese ingredients. Refer to here for more info.

Yojiya (English)

(image from www.yojiya.co.jp)
Founded in 1904 in Kyoto producing facial products and its the most famous oil-blotting facial paper called Aburatorigami. People visiting Kyoto would buy them for a souvenir.
Yojiya has more unique and traditional Japanese style cosmetics. It has recently started opening a branch at only three department stores in Kyoto, Fukuoka, and Tokyo.

Watosa (Japanese)

(image from www.watosa.com)
Watosa is a beauty brand produced by a top hair/makeup artist, Saburo Watanabe. Watosa offers high quality makeup products to enhance beauty with adorableness and also its colorful and pop designed packaging makes you happy and pleasant even just have the products. There is no location in Kyoto where I live, and I haven't gotten to go to any location either so I don't see how they actually look like and how they work on me. So here is some reviews I found on the internet, hope it may be helpful.

Fortunately, most of these brands offer their official websites in English. I hope you enjoy this and find any brands and products you are interested in. I will show you more later on especially drugstore brands.

Thank you -*

The List of Japanese Nail Polish Brands

Since I've been posting my nails on Google+ and Instagram, people ask me what brand/color I use for them so I decided to share with you some good Japanese nail polish brands I picked. The order is not ranking or anything, I just list them up and I've used some of these but not everything. I'll try to get and use one of each brand and write a review of it later though.

1. Art Collection

¥100

I've actually never used these nails but this brand is one of the most popular nail polishes at the well-known Japanese beauty products review site. And surprisingly, it's just a dollar! It doesn't look like that, does it? I will definitely try it out!

2. Canmake
¥360
I love canmake's nail polishes. Canmake is a cosmetic brand so originally more famous for their makeup than nail polishes but recently it's been getting popular so much. It has a nice range of colors and those colors are from little shimmer and no shimmer, with glitters but very watery so you need to coat a few times to be opaque. Pretty colors, first dry, inexpensive, non streak, cute packaging. However, the only thing I don't like about them is that they dry up too fast and thicken up if I don't use that often.

3. Integrate Gracy by Shiseido

¥400

4. Addiction

¥1,800

Addiction is a makeup brand and getting popular for fashionista. I've never used any of their products but the brand image is stylish and mode. Minimal packaging and very simple. I feel like it more western look.

5. CosmeDecorte AQ

¥2,000
I just purchased BE843 the other day, and I'm so in love it. It's a bit pricey for me but the color is matte pink-beige and absolutely beautiful and elegant. The brush is kind of thick and hard so it gives very easy to paint and its tip is slightly arched to fit the roots of nails well. It doesn't streak and opaque in 2 coats.

6. Ettusais

¥252
Recently released. 12 colors total.  Very tiny bottle. almost a half size of the CosmeDecorte ones. I prefer this size since I've never used them up and usually they end up with drying up. Ettusais is basically known for an affordable makeup brand and I'm familiar with it from high school. I am really loving its gel top coat, which gives the most beautiful shine and makes your nails look perfect gel made. I highly recommend it!!

7. Esprieque by KOSE

¥1,500
I only have one nail polish of this brand.

8. Majolica Majorca

¥380

9. Elizabeth

¥380

10. RMK

¥1,500

11. pa

12. Coffret dor by Kanebo

¥1,500

13. KATE by Kanebo

¥400

14. SUSIE.NY

¥800

15. Hanagoyomi

¥300

These brands below are not originally from Japan, but I don't see their cosmetic products in many countries, so I want to share with you. One thing I like about them is the
pretty, girly packaging

15. Anna Sui

¥1,500

I love the packaging so much. How adorable they are. The brush is a little firmer OPI and very easy to paint. Be flawless with just two coats and dries very fast. Another my favorite part of this is scented with flowers (maybe roses..?) and the smell lasts days later.

16. Jill Stuart

¥1,500
The bottle in princess jewel is simply gorgeous decorated with Swarovski rhinestone. They are easy to apply and spread very smoothly. Provide beautiful color with rich glow. A few coats to be perfect opaque. Quick-drying formula. Crystal floral bouquet fragrance.

13. Paul and Joe Beaute in English

I always wanted to get these nail polishes but I've never gotten to purchase yet. So I quote from www.ebeauty.ca.
Long-lasting polish that adds gorgeous shine and color for creating more beautiful nails. Nourishing botanicals hydrate, condition and protect to enhance both the health and appearance of the nails and cuticles.
"Paul & Joe Beaute is a beautiful collection of make-up, skincare & accessories designed by Paul & Joe fashion designer Sophie Mechaly." (from facebook page)

Most brands' websites are Japanese and don't offer any other languages(which is I'm really sorry to you guys). I'll try to write reviews as much as I can but you can ask me any questions anytime! I've been thinking to open my personal shopping service for Japanese beauty products
including skincare, makeup, nail, hair etc, but now I don't know the actual needs so if I could see many people want me to do it, I would love to do it :)
